Li, C.Q. and Yang, S. T. and Saafi, M. (2014) Numerical simulation of behavior of reinforced concrete structures considering corrosion effects
نویسندگان
چکیده
7 Corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete can alter the interface between the steel and concrete and 8 thus affects the bond mechanism. This subsequently influences the behaviour of reinforced 9 concrete structures in terms of their safety and serviceability. The present paper attempts to 10 develop a numerical method that can simulate the behaviour of reinforced concrete walls subjected 11 to steel corrosion in concrete as measured by their load-deflection relationship. The method 12 accounts for the effects of corrosion on the stiffness, maximum strength, residual strength and 13 failure mode of the bond between the steel and concrete. In the numerical method, the 14 corrosion-affected stiffness and maximum strength of bond are explicitly expressed as a function 15 of corrosion rate. It is found in this paper that the increase in the bond strength due to minor 16 corrosion can increase the load-bearing capacity of the wall and the corrosion-affected reinforced 17 concrete walls exhibit less ductile behaviour compared with the uncorroded ones. The paper 18 concludes that the developed numerical method can predict the behaviour of corrosion-affected 19 reinforced concrete sea walls with reasonable accuracy. 20

A large number of reinforced concrete structures subjected to chloride ions. Two basicapproaches for preventing corrosion of reinforcing steel embedded in concrete are: Increasing theconsolidation of concrete and using different coating on rebars. In present research steel rebarsare coated in different ways: a) 40 µm of zinc electroplated on steel rebar b) Zinc powder withepoxy paste (zinc rich...

Explosion occurs mainly due to unforeseen factors, such as terrorist attacks or performance disruption leading to explosion in facilities and infrastructure caused by fatigue and non-compliance with regulations. Considering the special status of reinforced concrete structures in the construction industry and the extensive usage of the lateral load-bearing system of flexural frames, this researc...
متن کاملTime-Dependent Structural Behavior of Repaired Corroded RC Columns Located in a Marine Site
The chloride corrosion of reinforcing steel in reinforced concrete (RC) structures is a significant reason for premature deterioration and failure of RC structures in aggressive environments such as Persian Gulf region. This is one of the most important sources of engineering and economic problems in developed countries. So, the repair and maintenance of RC structures exposed to corrosive envir...
متن کاملAssessing the Performance of Corroding RC Bridge Decks: A Critical Review of Corrosion Propagation Models
Corrosion of steel reinforcement is one of the most prevalent causes of reinforced concrete (RC) structures deterioration in chloride-contaminated environments. As a result, evaluating the impact of any possible corrosion-induced damages to reinforced concrete bridges strongly affects management decisions: such as inspection, maintenance and repair actions. The corrosion propagation phase is a ...
